As if life wasn’t already unfair. It now appears that we may be jeopardizing brain cells each time we reach for our favorite sugary indulgence. A recent study found that eating lots of sugar, even for just six weeks, makes us dumb (or is it dumber?).
And sweet drinks are no exception. There's evidence that sugary drinks – many of which contain high-fructose corn syrup – may alter our mood and wreak havoc on our cognitive function. So, not only is sugar linked to mounting health issues like diabetes and obesity, it may be making us dumber.
At the risk of stating the obvious, moderation is mostly likely the smart play when it comes to sugar.
